What happens to AI features if I don't add a key?
They stay switched off and say so. Nothing breaks, nothing is hidden, and every non-AI part of the app works exactly as it does with a key. You lose interpretation, not data.
This is a supported way to use the app, not a degraded trial.
What still works — which is most of it. Your journal, every filter and column, the whole Analytics section, the Stats workbench's own computations, the Calendar, the Playbook, the debrief and report card, imports and exports, capture, and the tilt system's arithmetic. All of that is computed from your trades, on your machine or in your database. No model is involved.
What goes quiet without a key:
- The AI CoachThe input box is replaced by a banner telling you to add a key.
- Read chart on a trade, and the automatic chart read on upload. The button's tooltip reads "Add an API key in Settings → AI first".
- Auto-tag emotions, both per-trade and on CSV import.
- The weekly pattern report and the Dashboard's daily summary and coaching cards.
- Pre-market briefings in the prep flow.
- Setup health check and rule generator in the Playbook.
- The Ask bar on the Stats desk, and the AI read inside a study.
- The in-app support assistant.
- Both bulk actions on this page — their buttons read Save an API key first.
Nothing pesters you. These surfaces state the requirement once, where the feature would have been, and otherwise stay out of the way.
