Why is my News page empty?
If the header says Finnhub key not configured and the calendar shows no events, the server-side news service is not switched on for your account. It is not something you can configure — contact support.
The economic calendar and the headline feed are served by the TradePerformance backend, not by a key you supply. That is deliberate: it is the one data source on this page you should not have to pay for.
When the backend's news service has not been activated for an account, the whole page degrades the same way and it is easy to mistake for a quiet news day:
- The header reads 0 events today · Finnhub key not configured, the second half in amber.
- The Economic Calendar and Headlines cards sit at 0 events · loading… and 0 articles · loading… and stay there.
- Today's reactions says No released events yet today, because there are no events to react to.
- Events Today reads 0 and Surprise Index reads no released yet.
The controls all still work — the range tabs and the filter chips respond — there is simply nothing to filter. Contact support to have the service enabled; there is no setting for it in the app.
Two things that look like the same problem but are not:
- How you trade news saying No news-tagged trades yet is about your trades, not the feed. Trades get tagged when you import them or sync a broker, so this stays empty until you have traded around an event the app knows about.
- Avoid Window reading Off · set in Settings is just the setting being off. That one is yours to turn on.
