What do the status dots on each provider tile mean?
Green In use is the provider currently answering. Amber Saved, not active has a working key but is not the one being called. Red Validation failed means the last test on that key did not pass. No dot means no key.
The dots answer the question people actually have, which is "why did nothing happen".
- Green — In use. This provider is active. Alongside it the panel shows Last verified and when, so you can tell a key checked five minutes ago from one checked in March. The legend under the tiles calls this state Active; it is the same thing.
- Amber — Saved, not active. The key is stored and, as far as the last test knows, fine. It is not the active provider, but it is still available for economy routing and for fallback when the active provider errors. Amber is a normal, useful state, not a warning.
- Red — Validation failed. The last test call was rejected. The provider's error message is shown next to it.
- No dot / grey. No key saved for this provider.
Do not read the tile's border as a status. The provider you are currently editing is outlined in green whether or not it holds a key. The dot and the line beneath it are the status; the outline just says which tile the key field below belongs to.
A green dot is not a promise about right now. It records the last successful test. A key revoked at the provider this morning still shows green until something calls it. If AI features start failing, re-run Test & save before looking anywhere else.
