What is on the Market Context sub-page?
Your results against the market you were trading in — the index backdrop, how VIX affects your edge, and a simulation of perfect execution.
The last sub-page of Risk, and the widest lens in it. Everything else measures you against yourself; this measures you against conditions.
Indicators on this sub-page:
- Market ContextDaily open, high, low, close and volume for an ETF proxy of what you trade, chosen from a row of chips: SPY for ES and MES, QQQ for NQ and MNQ, IWM for RTY, GLD for gold, USO for oil, DIA for the Dow. ETF proxies are used deliberately so that gap analysis reflects real market-open gaps. Four views sit behind tabs — market direction, daily range, trend regime and gap analysis — so a good month can be checked against whether it was a good month for everyone.
- Volatility Regime — How VIX Affects Your EdgeThe current index level with a regime name and today's sizing signal, then your edge by regime: low, normal and high, each with a win rate, the gap against your baseline, average P&L per trade, a trade count, and an explicit sizing recommendation — reduce 25%, normal, full size. Under that a scatter of VIX level against trade P&L, and a written summary naming your strongest regime and what to do in your weakest. The index is switchable — VIX, VXN, OVX or GVZ — to match what you trade.
- Perfect Execution Simulation — Quantifying Your LeaksYour actual P&L against the total opportunity identified, then each leak as its own row: exiting at the MFE peak, holding to the planned target, stopping at the planned level. Each shows a projected P&L, the money left on the table and how many trades it could be measured on — and the ones it cannot measure tell you which field to fill to unlock them. It closes by naming your biggest leak.
That opportunity figure will be enormous, and it is not a target. It assumes a trader who exits every trade at its high, which nobody is. Read the ranking of the leaks rather than the total — the panel is built for that and says which to work on first.
If the top panel says "Waiting for SPY data…", it is fetching the index series and has not got it. It reaches for /api/market-data first and falls back to Yahoo directly, so a busy upstream leaves it waiting. The two panels below it are computed from your own trades and are unaffected.
