What is the edge scan?
It tries every condition the dataset can express against every outcome in its library, and files the combinations that clear a fixed set of guards.
Scan for edges sits under the report header. Pressing it starts a sweep: the app builds every condition its columns can express, measures each one against every outcome it knows, and grades the results. On a well-filled daily log that is a few thousand combinations and takes a couple of minutes, with a running count and a Cancel button while it works.
What it files as candidates is a small fraction of what survives. What makes this trustworthy rather than a slot machine is the strip it leaves behind afterwards — the honesty strip — which reports the sweep's own arithmetic:
- Combinations sweptHow many things it tried. This is the number that makes the rest meaningful. Try three thousand things and some of them will look good by luck alone.
- Survived the guards, and how many of those reached grade A.
- Survivors not filedThe ones it threw away as duplicates of something it already had.
- Chance alone passesThe yardstick, and the most important figure on the strip. See the chance check below.
- This sweep filedHow many times more than chance the real sweep produced. Under about two, treat everything it filed as a lead rather than a finding.
- Chance reached grade A, chance's best edge, chance's best size shift — what pure luck managed on this same data.
- Last scanThe date. Everything else on the strip describes that scan.
Every figure carries a hover explanation. If a sweep only barely beat what chance passes, the strip says so in amber, in a sentence, rather than leaving you to compare two numbers.
The scan reads daily bars, so it needs a daily log with an instrument set. On an imported sheet or an instrument-less log it says so instead of running.
