Can I rebind the voice hotkeys?
Yes, both of them. Press Rebind beside either key, then press the combination you want.
The toggle hotkey must include a modifier — Cmd, Ctrl, Alt or Shift. A bare letter is rejected, because it would fire every time you typed that letter. The push-to-talk key is the opposite: it must be a plain key you can hold, so modifier-only presses are ignored there.
The default follows your platform — ⇧⌘V on a Mac, Ctrl+Shift+V on Windows and Linux. It used to be the Mac binding everywhere, which asked Windows and Linux for the Windows / Super key; many desktops capture that before the browser ever sees it, so voice appeared to do nothing. If you set voice up before that was fixed and never rebound it, the app moves you to the Ctrl binding on its own.
macOS reserves a number of Cmd combinations at the system level too. If a binding simply never fires, that is usually why; pick a different combination rather than assuming voice is broken.
Step by step
- In Voice mode, find the Toggle hotkey row. The current binding is shown in a key cap.
- Press Rebind. The cap turns amber and reads Press combo….
- Press the combination you want, modifier included. It is saved immediately.
- For push-to-talk, tick the box first — the Hold key row only appears once it is on — then use its own Rebind, or one of the Use ` and Use Space presets.
