Can I use the app on Mac and Windows?
The web app works in any modern browser on either, today. The desktop companion is built for both — macOS on Apple silicon, macOS on Intel, and 64-bit Windows 10 and 11 — but at the time of writing all three are listed as Available at launch rather than downloadable.
Separate the two, because the answer differs.
The web app has no platform requirement beyond a current browser. Mac, Windows, Linux, a desktop or a laptop — it is the same app. Your account carries your data, so moving between machines needs nothing but signing in.
Two browser-level caveats, both worth knowing before you pick where to work:
- Voice needs a browser that can record from a microphone, which every current browser can — Firefox included. The transcription engine is Whisper, not the browser's own speech API, so there is no browser-specific gate.
- The default voice hotkey follows your platform⇧⌘V on a Mac, Ctrl+Shift+V on Windows and Linux. Rebind it if it clashes with something. See the voice hotkey.
The desktop companion is built for Mac and Windows, with a separate macOS build for Intel machines so pre-Apple-silicon Macs are covered. Linux is not among the targets.
