What does the strictness slider change?
How close a match to your voiceprint the app demands before it acts. Higher rejects more. It runs from 0 to 1 and starts at 0.70.
Every piece of speech is scored against your voiceprint, and the slider is the line that score has to clear. The default deliberately errs toward rejecting: having the room, a stream or a video trigger your journal is worse than having to repeat yourself.
Raise it if anything other than you is getting through. Lower it if you are being ignored while speaking normally. Move it in small steps — this is a similarity score, not a volume control, and the useful range is narrower than the slider suggests.
To tune it with evidence rather than by feel, use Open voice test panel → beneath the slider. It scores what it hears without acting on any of it, so you can watch how your own voice scores against whatever else is in the room and set the line between the two.
